- As of March 5th 2003, airlines flying to the United States must comply with new requirements for information about U.S.-bound passengers, under the agreement reached between the United States and the European Commission on February 18th 2003.
Under the agreement, as of March 5th, U.S. customs officials will have discretionary power to examine reservation information related to flights beginning, ending, or stopping over in the United States. The European Commission has informed airlines that it has received guarantees from the United States that this information will be used appropriately.
